Gautam Gambhir will leave for England with the first batch of the main squad for England on the 6th of June. There was speculation on whether he will go earlier or will only travel with the main team. Now it is confirmed that the head coach will travel on 6 June. While the India A team will travel on 25 May, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan will join them ahead of the second India A game as has already been announced by the BCCI.
The first batch of the India A team will be accompanied by Hrishikesh Kanitkar who is the Head Coach of the A team.
Sources have also confirmed that quite a lot of India A players are likely to be a part of the main squad. Some of the names that are expected to overlap are Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana, Shardul Thakur and Dhruv Jurel.
When it comes to the younger lot, the selectors had given Manav Suthar an opportunity in Australia and sources claim that selectors want to give the left-arm orthodox spinner another chance in England in the India A games. The selectors want to give Suthar a long rope, which is the way of thinking in Indian cricket at the moment. Before discarding anyone, players will be given ample opportunities to prove themselves.
