Documentary to celebrate the successful organisation of the 2023 Hockey World Cup in Rourkela and Bhubaneshwar.
A RevSportz Presentation
The successful organisation of the Hockey World Cup will always be considered a landmark in the history of India’s sporting achievements. From building the best stadiums to creating the best infrastructure, Odisha had stepped up in making the country proud in front of the world.
Fan parks, which were world standard and comparable to the FIFA world cup fan parks in Doha, fantastic infrastructure, which helped enrich the spectator experience, fan engagement initiatives, which brought the players close to fans and finally quality coverage helped showcase the very best of hockey to the rest of India and the world.
Hockey is no longer a sport. It is a spectacle. It is India’s statement to the world just like it had been between 1928-56 when India won six straight gold medals at the Olympics.
Successes such as these add to the sport and encourage many a youngster to take it up as career. It pushes fans to buy tickets and make it to the stadiums. That every India game was sold out during the world cup was in itself a story. There was a clamour for tickets that we haven’t seen in hockey before and interest will only grow in the days to come.
Odisha has showed the way. With years of effort, Odisha has made India the home of world hockey. And that’s what we celebrate today. The documentary- India- The Home of World Hockey, is a tribute to every individual who played a part in making the world cup a huge success. It celebrates the sport and it celebrates the fans. It goes beyond the pitch and celebrates the spirit of the tournament and in doing so, it showcases India’s spirit and the passion that we have for hockey.
Speaking about the organisational success of the World Cup,
Boria Majumdar, Founder Revsportz, stated, “Having covered international sport for more than 20 years, I can say with conviction and certainty the Hockey world cup was one of the best organised events I have been to. It made us proud as Indians and helped us make a statement to the sporting world at large. It has given the sport a fillip and we all hope the momentum will be sustained going forward. This documentary is a tribute to everyone who played a part. As journalists we enjoyed putting together each fragment that has now taken the shape of this documentary. We hope each one of you enjoy watching it and celebrate the effort.”
