In the high-stakes clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium, DC collapsed for just 121 runs in 18.2 overs while chasing the target of 181 runs. With this win, MI has secured its spot in the playoffs, and one of the key performers in today’s match was Mitchell Santner.
Santner was on fire, turning the game completely in MI’s favour with a three-wicket haul by conceding just 11 runs in four overs. His first wicket came in the eighth over when Vipraj Nigam misunderstood a back-of-length delivery that gripped just enough to produce a soft leading edge and an easy catch for himself. The dismissal left DC at 55/4.
Then in the 15th over, Santner took the wicket of Sameer Rizvi, who held DC’s innings together. The ball dipped, turned, and crashed into the middle stump as Rizvi swiped at thin air. Two balls later, Santner delivered a drifting spell, dismissing Ashutosh Sharma, who was stumped as the ball turned miles past his bat.

Santner’s spell dismantled DC’s momentum, triggering the collapse from 103/5 to 121 all out. With MI’s bowlers complementing Santner excellently, Jasprit Bumrah took three crucial wickets, and Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, and Karn Sharma took one wicket each, which helped MI seal the win comfortably.
With the qualification of the Mumbai Indians (MI), the other three teams who previously qualified for the playoffs were Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
