Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Mustafizur Rahman was one of the main architects of his team’s six-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The left-arm pacer was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets while conceding just 33 runs in his four-over spell.
Mustafizur went unsold in this season’s IPL auction. However, DC brought him in as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk in the bowling line-up, and he has justified the role given to him in the three innings he has played so far.
Mustafizur three-wicket haul
Punjab Kings were aiming for a strong start with their opening pair of Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya. DC brought Mustafizur on during the powerplay, and he delivered immediately, dismissing Arya for 6 (9) to give DC their first breakthrough. The dismissal brought a wave of momentum, with Rahman showcasing his skill and control reminiscent of Mitchell Starc.
He went on to claim two more crucial wickets in the latter half of the innings, removing Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen.
Besides Mustafizur’s three-wicket spell, DC bowlers combined to take a total of eight wickets, with PBKS setting a target of 207—chased down by the Capitals in the final over.
Mustafizur now has 65 wickets in his IPL career at an average of 28.44. For DC, he has taken 13 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 31.53. In the 2025 IPL season, he has featured in three games, collecting four wickets at an average of 21.75.
