With just four matches left in the league stage of IPL 2025, the play-off-bound teams are yet to finalise their positions. The battle for the top two spots is still wide open. All four qualified teams have a chance to finish at the top, which would offer them two opportunities to reach the final.

Here are the scenarios for each of the four qualified teams for a top-two finish:

Gujarat Titans (GT)

Points: 18 | NRR: +0.602 | Match remaining: vs CSK, Ahmedabad

Gujarat Titans sit at the top with 18 points and a strong Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.602. They will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their final league game. A win will confirm their position at the top and secure a spot in Qualifier 1. Even if they lose, they could still finish in the top two—provided RCB don’t beat LSG or if NRR works in their favour.

Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Points: 17 | NRR: +0.327 | Match remaining: vs MI, Jaipur

Punjab Kings have 17 points with an NRR of +0.327. They need to beat the Mumbai Indians to stay in the race for a top-two finish. Even then, they will depend on either CSK beating GT or RCB failing to beat LSG, or RCB winning by a smaller margin.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

Points: 17 | NRR: +0.255 | Match remaining: vs LSG, Lucknow

Royal Challengers Bengaluru also have 17 points, with an NRR of +0.255. They must beat LSG to reach 19 points. But like Punjab, their fate is not entirely in their own hands. They need either GT or PBKS to slip up in their final matches.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Points: 16 | NRR: +1.292 | Match remaining: vs PBKS, Jaipur

Mumbai Indians, despite a challenging start, are still in the hunt due to their staggering NRR of +1.292 and 16 points. To break into the top two, they must beat Punjab and hope either GT or RCB lose their final matches.
