Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) to secure their spot in Qualifier One with a seven-wicket win in the 69th match of IPL 2025. Priyansh Arya, who has been in great form this year, opened the innings and played a brilliant knock—an innings that was instrumental in PBKS’s victory.
Arya started attacking from ball one, beginning his innings with a boundary. PBKS scored 47/1 in the powerplay. Arya and Josh Inglis put on a match-winning partnership of 109 runs from just 59 balls. Arya contributed 43 runs, while Inglis scored 61 during that stand. Arya completed his fifty in just 27 balls.
However, on the first ball of the 15th over, he was dismissed by Mitchell Santner, caught by Suryakumar Yadav. Before getting out, Arya played a brilliant knock of 62 runs from just 35 balls at a strike rate of 177.14. His innings included nine fours and two sixes.
“I don’t have to say much to Priyansh, really nice batting with him.” – Josh Inglis
Inglis was the other hero with the bat for PBKS, scoring 73 off 42 balls at a strike rate of 173.81. Regarding their partnership, after the match, Inglis said: “The left-right combo helped, with the short boundary. We targeted that, played smart cricket, picking up match-ups and balls. Would’ve been nice for one of us to be at the end. Happy we got home. I’ve faced a lot of Santner, we know how each other operates, a cat and mouse with the short boundary. But he’s great. I don’t have to say much to Priyansh, really nice batting with him.”
