A day of happiness, joy, and celebration turned tragic for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans, as a stampede during the team’s victory parade claimed at least 11 lives and left more than 33 injured, according to reports.
Following RCB’s historic IPL 2025 title win, thousands of excited fans gathered near Vidhana Soudha. They waved flags and held banners to celebrate the team’s long-awaited success. The celebration began after the players met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
The team then started an open-top bus parade from Vidhana Soudha to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a grand event was planned. However, the huge crowd became unmanageable, and chaos broke out, leading to a stampede.

“The Organisers Should Have Planned It Better” – BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia
“It is very unfortunate. This is a negative side of popularity. People are crazy for their cricketers. The organisers should have planned it better. Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said, “I have spoken to the Police Commissioner and everyone. I will also go to the hospital later. The program ended within 10 minutes. We are trying to make everything normal… Lakhs of people came.”
Speaking on the incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, “A major tragedy occurred during the victory celebrations. It happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured.”
