In a Maharashtra Women’s Premier League (MWPL) 2025 clash, the Solapur Smashers faced off against the Ratnagiri Jets in Thane.

Batting first, the Ratnagiri Jets managed to post 120 runs before being bowled out in 20 overs on a good batting surface. Their captain, Smriti Mandhana, was dismissed early—caught behind by Damini Bankar off Sharayu Kulkarni’s bowling—falling on just the fourth ball of the innings for one run.

The incident quickly went viral, largely due to Kulkarni’s unique celebration. While it initially appeared that the umpire had signalled a wide, Mandhana walked off voluntarily, an act of sportsmanship that earned widespread praise.

Shivali Shinde scored 25 off 18 balls with two boundaries and a six, while Anushree Swami added 20 off 23 balls with a boundary, providing stability to the innings.
