Gujarat Titans (GT) star Sai Sudharsan recently opened up about a conversation he had with Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli, which revolved around dealing with failures—an insight that comes at a crucial time as Sudharsan gears up for the high-profile Test series against England.

Sudharsan revealed that Kohli shared valuable advice on staying mentally strong during rough patches, something the young batter found particularly inspiring as he prepares for what could be the biggest opportunity of his career.

The 22-year-old also shared a light-hearted moment from their interaction, saying that he made sure to congratulate Kohli on finally lifting the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy—a historic win that ended Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) 18-year-long wait.

With India’s tour of England set to begin on June 20, Sudharsan is likely to be a key figure in the squad. He expressed great admiration for Kohli’s mindset and intensity, saying: “What I’ve always admired about him is his mindset — the obsession that he has for the sport,” he told Times of India.

Sudharsan also recalled speaking to Kohli about how the senior batter had handled his own struggles with form, particularly during past England tours. “I have also spoken with him regarding those and how dealt with situations when he was not getting a lot of runs and finding it difficult.”

Notably, Kohli endured a challenging tour of England in 2014, where he struggled for runs—a period that later became a defining chapter in his career turnaround. Coming off a phenomenal IPL 2025 season, Sudharsan won the Orange Cap after scoring an impressive 759 runs at an average of 54.21 and a strike rate of 156.17. His tally included six half-centuries and one century in 15 matches.

Beyond white-ball cricket, he has also made steady progress in the red-ball format. In 29 first-class matches, Sudharsan has amassed 1,957 runs at an average of 39.93, including five fifties and seven centuries.
