Tom Banton joined Jacob Bethell at the crease when England were 126/4 in the 14th over, still needing 71 runs to win from just 39 balls. At that point, the match was finely poised.
However, Banton made his intentions clear right away by launching the first ball he faced for a six over deep square leg. He followed it up with another six off the final ball of the next over.
Bethell then took charge, smashing three sixes in the following over bowled by Alzarri Joseph, from which England collected 20 runs. Although Bethell was dismissed on the last ball of that over, England had already taken firm control of the game. The remaining batters completed the chase with ease.
England now lead the series 2-0
Bethell and Banton shared a quick-fire, match-winning partnership of 43 runs off just 15 balls, putting England in a commanding position. Bethell scored 26 off 10 deliveries at a strike rate of 260.00, including one four and three sixes. Banton remained unbeaten on 30 off just 11 balls, with a strike rate of 272.73, hitting three fours and two sixes.
England had a solid start to the chase, with Jos Buttler and Ben Duckett adding 63 runs for the opening wicket. That was followed by a 40-run stand between Buttler and Harry Brook. Finally, Banton and Brydon Carse wrapped up the innings with nine balls to spare.
With this comprehensive win, England have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, with one match still to be played.
