In the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series, held in Bristol on 8 June 2025, England won the toss and elected to bowl first. After being put into bat first, the Men in Maroon posted a competitive total of 196 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Skipper Shai Hope scored 49 runs off 38 balls, while Johnson Charles contributed 47 runs off 39 balls, laying a solid foundation before Rovman Powell’s quickfire 34 off 15 and Jason Holder’s unbeaten 29 from just 9 balls gave the innings a late boost.

England’s chase began a little slowly with the early dismissal of Jamie Smith. However, Jos Buttler stepped in with a composed yet impactful knock of 47 from 36 balls at a strike rate of 130.55, including four boundaries and two maximums. He built steady partnerships with Ben Duckett (30 off 18 balls) and Harry Brook (34 off 20 balls), keeping England in the hunt. Mixing classical strokeplay with aggressive hitting, Buttler showed both control and intent before being dismissed attempting a reverse scoop — caught by Charles off Akeal Hosein.

England chased down the target in 18.3 overs

After Buttler’s dismissal, England were 112/3 in 12.2 overs. Jacob Bethell and Tom Banton then accelerated the scoring. Bethell smashed 26 off just 10 balls, including three sixes, while Banton remained unbeaten on 30 from 11 balls, guiding England towards victory. Despite a couple of setbacks in the middle overs, England successfully chased down the target in 18.3 overs, finishing on 199/6 and sealing a thrilling win with nine balls to spare.
