“Nice to start the tournament strong.” – Finn Allen
In reply, Washington had a great start with an 80-run opening partnership in 5.2 overs. But after that, they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for 146 in 13.1 overs. Both Haris Rauf and Hassan Khan took three wickets each for the Unicorns.
Allen was once a part of the current IPL champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In IPL 2021, he was signed by the franchise as a replacement for Josh Philippe but did not get a game.
During the post-match presentation, Allen said: “I reckon good bats (smiles), nice to start the tournament strong. Think they did a really good job preparing the wicket. We have got firepower and guys chipped in as well. Was special and good stint. Crowd was electric and (tournament) is shaping up well.”
