Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg has backed Indian youngster Sai Sudharsan to bat at number three on the upcoming tour of England. Hogg believes Sudharsan’s technique is well-suited to English conditions and could deliver strong results for India.

“I’d actually have Sudharsan in there as well, coming in at number three. So you’ve got a lot of youth up there,” Hogg told RevSportz. Sudharsan was the Orange Cap holder in IPL 2025, scoring a total of 759 runs for the Gujarat Titans. Hogg further added, “Sudharsan, the way that he played in the T20 games, I just thought he’s got a fantastic technique.”

“I just love the way that he plays the ball late.” – Hogg on Sudharsan

Hogg continued to praise Sudharsan’s style: “I just love the way that he plays the ball late. He’s able to find the gaps behind point while still playing with a straight bat and working off his pads. So I think he’s got an excellent technique for playing the ball late.”

Hogg’s comments come as India prepare to face England in a five-match Test series. With several senior players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin absent due to retirement, Sudharsan’s inclusion could play a key role in stabilising the batting line-up. The number three spot, previously occupied by Kohli, is now vacant, and India will need someone like Sudharsan who can anchor the innings in similar fashion. If given the opportunity, Sudharsan will be keen to make it count.
