Former South African fast-bowling great Dale Steyn has made a bold prediction about the upcoming Test series between India and England. According to Steyn, each match in the five-Test series will be closely contested but will produce a clear winner. Ultimately, he believes England will edge out India and clinch the series 3-2.
“All games will be close. But all will have a result. I think it will be 3-2 in favour of England. There will be a result in every Test match. There will be no runaway win for any team, all five games will be very close,” Steyn said while making his prediction on JioHotstar.
The series is all set to begin on 20 June 2025
India are all set to play a five-match Test series in England, starting on June 20 in Leeds. This will mark the first time India plays without the services of their three most experienced players—Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli—as all of them have retired from the longest format of the game.
Shubman Gill has been handed the captaincy of the Test team, with Rishabh Pant named as his deputy. India have historically struggled in England. They have played 19 Test series on English soil, winning only three, losing 14, and drawing two. With such a record, Gill faces a huge challenge in his debut series as India’s Test skipper. He will look to lead the team confidently under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir.
