It has been a very special build-up on RevSportz so far. The reception in the national and regional media stands testimony to that. Almost all our interviews have made news and created headlines. With the series now on us, it makes sense to do the build-up conclave on Monday, June 16. A day full of exclusive interviews and stories on all RevSportz platforms.
We will start the day with an interview with Kuldeep Yadav. Many, including former Australian greats like Matt Hayden and Michael Clarke – not to forget Brad Hogg – have talked up Kuldeep as a possible X-factor for India. The man himself seems relaxed, as was evident from his body language when he interacted with the press yesterday in Beckenham. He emphasised the importance of winning the contest in the mind, something that will stand him in good stead in England.
We follow that by chatting with Sourav Ganguly. Sourav has repeatedly emphasised the importance of Jasprit Bumrah, and how he should he handled. In his opinion, Bumrah shouldn’t be used for more than 12 overs a day, and should be used only as a wicket-taker. In fact, how Shubman Gill handles Bumrah will be a major talking point in the series.
Bharat Arun is always a pleasure to speak to, and he described in detail the lengths he wants Mohammed Siraj to bowl in England. Siraj, it is known, will be the workhorse and will have to take much of the load if Bumrah has to stay fresh for most of the series.
Ravichandran Ashwin made headlines by emphasising the importance of the sport itself, and saying that no individual is bigger than the game. That’s the key point, and the likes of Gill and Pant should treat this series as an opportunity.
We will also feature an interview with Shardul Thakur, who played a solid hand in the warm-up game, picking up four wickets on day one.
The idea is simple – as all of us assemble in Leeds and start with our on-ground coverage leading into the first Test, a series of experts have helped us set up the series. These interviews will create narratives, provoke debate and discussion.
Enjoy the conclave as we start building up from Leeds. The Indian team assemble here on June 17.
