Ellyse Perry has confirmed that she will stay with the Sydney Sixers for another three seasons. The 34-year-old star was the Sixers’ first-ever signing in 2015 and has been one of the best players in the WBBL with both bat and ball.
This new deal is significant as the Sixers begin a fresh chapter under new coach Matthew Mott, who has replaced Charlotte Edwards. Edwards is now the head coach of England’s women’s team.
“Ellyse has been a key part of the Sixers since the inception of the competition and has played an incredibly important role in shaping the identity of our club over the last decade,” Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes said.

“Her performances on-field speak for themselves” – Haynes on Perry
Haynes praised Perry’s contribution on and off the field, adding, “Anyone who knows ‘Pez’ knows that she’s not just an outstanding talent, she’s an incredible role model for young cricketers and one of the very best ambassadors for our sport.
“Her performances on-field speak for themselves, but it’s her professionalism, humility, and experience that make her such a valuable asset, not only for our club but for the league as a whole.”
Perry has led the Sixers since the first season and guided them to two WBBL titles. She is also the team’s top run-scorer, with 4,689 runs at an average of 48.84—the second-most in WBBL history.
The Sixers now have nine players signed and hold the No. 1 pick in the Big Bash draft. With stars like Sophie Ecclestone and Amelia Kerr, Mott’s major goal is to help the team reach more finals, having missed out too often in recent years.
