England fast bowler Brydon Carse is all set to make his much-anticipated home Test debut as England face India in the opening match of the five-Test series at the iconic Headingley Cricket Ground.
Carse, who made his Test debut during England’s tour of Pakistan, was also part of the squad for the New Zealand series. The tall right-arm pacer has already impressed with 27 wickets in five matches, including a career-best 6 for 42 against New Zealand in Christchurch last November.
Carse Ready to Shine on Home Soil
Having recovered from a toe injury sustained during the Champions Trophy in February — which forced him to miss a potential debut against Zimbabwe — the 29-year-old speedster is eager to make an impact on home soil against one of the strongest batting line-ups in world cricket.
“Headingley is an unbelievable ground. I’ve played a bit of white-ball cricket there over the last couple of years for England and in The Hundred, but to be able to play a home Test against India is going to be pretty exciting, and I cannot wait to get going,” said Carse in the pre-match press conference.
England’s bowling unit remains strong despite a few injuries. Carse believes this series presents the perfect opportunity to showcase his versatility and potential in favourable home conditions.
“I think it’s a great opportunity. I’ve spoken before about the group of ten fast bowlers England have. A few injuries have cropped up, but we still have a pretty healthy stock of bowlers to choose from. This is another opportunity, in home conditions, to show the different skills I can bring to the team,” he added.
