Rishabh Pant did what only he is known for in Test cricket as he smashed a fifty at Headingley on day one. He remained not out on 65 runs along with skipper Shubman Gill (127*) as they went unbeaten on day one, with India posting 359/3 in 85 overs.
After such a dominant display on the first day of the match, BCCI shared a video where both Gill and Pant were seen climbing the stairs towards the dressing room, as all other players and staff were there to acknowledge them. Then, Team India’s star opener and one of the most experienced members of this relatively young side, KL Rahul, was seen bowing down to Pant with folded hands. That sweet gesture from Rahul went viral on social media instantly.

Rishabh Pant will be eyeing his third Test ton in England
Pant played aggressively throughout the innings. For example, he smashed Chris Woakes for a six in the final over. While most batters would play safe, Pant danced down the pitch and sent the ball soaring over deep square leg. Just on the second ball of his innings, he came down the ground and smashed Stokes for a four over the bowler’s head. The way the whole team acknowledged the wicketkeeper-batter showed how much they enjoyed Pant’s fearless attitude.
On day two, Rishabh Pant will look to continue from where he left off as he eyes his third Test century on English soil. On day one, he also crossed the 3000-run mark in Test cricket and became only the second Indian wicketkeeper-batter to do so.
