On Day 3 of the ongoing Leeds Test between India and England, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj was involved in a heated exchange with England’s star batter Harry Brook. The incident occurred during the 84th over of England’s first innings.
Brook had already hit Siraj for back-to-back boundaries on the second and third deliveries of the over. On the fourth ball, the batter stepped down the track but managed only two runs. Siraj responded with a good-length delivery on off-stump that took a thick inside edge and struck Brook on the pad.
After the ball, Siraj gave Brook a long stare, and in response, Brook appeared to say a few words and gestured for Siraj to head back to his mark and continue bowling.

Brook fell short of a century by just one run
The verbal battle seemed to fuel Brook further. In Siraj’s next over, Brook, who was batting on 83, went on the attack. He smashed Siraj for 18 runs, including a towering six over long-on and a crisp boundary through the off side to move to 97.
However, just when it seemed like he was heading toward a well-deserved century, disaster struck. On the third delivery of the 89th over, Brook attempted a hook shot but mistimed it straight to Shardul Thakur at deep backward square leg. He was dismissed for 99 off 112 balls, falling just one run short of a memorable hundred. Prasidh Krishna was the bowler who claimed the wicket.
Despite Brook’s dismissal, England’s lower order contributed valuable runs. Chris Woakes, Josh Tongue, and Brydon Carse chipped in with useful cameos to help England reach 465 before being bowled out in 100.4 overs—trailing India’s first-innings total of 471 by just six runs.
Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball for India, claiming a five-wicket haul. Prasidh Krishna took three wickets, while Siraj picked up two.
