The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Zimbabwe will make their debut in the ICC Women’s Championship with a limited-overs tour of New Zealand in March 2026.
Zimbabwe’s journey in the 2025–2029 ICC Women’s Championship will begin with a three-match ODI series, all scheduled to be held at the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin. Prior to the ODIs, the team will face New Zealand in a three-match T20I series at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
This Championship will also serve as a qualifying pathway for the 2029 Women’s World Cup.
The tour represents an important opportunity for Zimbabwe to re-establish themselves on the global stage.
Preparations have been intense, with an emphasis on building a well-rounded squad.
Young players are expected to get their chance alongside seasoned campaigners.
New Zealand, playing at home, will look to dominate but can expect a spirited challenge.
“This tour presents us with an excellent opportunity to challenge ourselves against quality opposition in tough conditions,” Zimbabwe head coach Walter Chawaguta said.
“Ireland will provide just the right platform to sharpen our skills, build momentum and solidify our combinations.”
Following Zimbabwe’s inclusion, the Women’s Championship now features 11 of the 12 Full Members of the ICC, with Afghanistan the only notable exception.
