Manchester City delivered a commanding performance in their final Group G clash of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, defeating Italian giants Juventus 5-2. With this victory, City topped the group with a perfect record — three wins in three matches, collecting nine points.
The spotlight, however, was firmly on Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker netted City’s third goal of the night in the 52nd minute, marking his 123rd goal for the club in just 145 appearances. More significantly, it was Haaland’s 300th career goal for club and country — a milestone he reached in only 370 games.
As reported by ESPN, Haaland has now surpassed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo (554 games), Lionel Messi (418 games), and Kylian Mbappe (409 games) in terms of the fewest matches taken to reach the 300-goal mark — underlining his status as one of football’s most prolific forwards.
“He has scored 300 goals at 24 years old.” – Guardiola on Haaland
Speaking about the achievement, City manager Pep Guardiola was full of praise. “All I can say is congratulations. He has scored 300 goals at 24 years old. I admire a lot the strikers. I am so happy for Erling — his goal and being involved in short spaces. So, so good,” Guardiola said in his post-match remarks.
Apart from Haaland, Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden, and Savinho also found the back of the net. With this emphatic win, Manchester City advanced to the Round of 16, where they will face Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal on 1 July. Al-Hilal finished second in Group H with five points from three matches.
