The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has officially approved Yashasvi Jaiswal’s request to withdraw his no-objection certificate (NOC) application, clearing the way for him to continue representing Mumbai in the upcoming domestic season.
MCA President Ajinkya Naik confirmed the development, stating that the Apex Council has accepted the request. “We have accepted Jaiswal’s withdrawal of NOC application and he will be available for Mumbai during forthcoming domestic season,” Naik told The Indian Express.
Earlier in May, The Indian Express had reported that Jaiswal sent an email to the MCA, expressing his desire to withdraw his NOC and reverse his decision to play for Goa. In the email, Jaiswal cited personal reasons for the initial move and requested to continue playing for Mumbai.
“I the undersigned would request your goodself to consider my request in withdrawing my NOC given to me as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa which for now has been curtailed! So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal wrote in his email.
Jaiswal’s NOC Request Had Surprised Officials
Just a month before withdrawing his application, Jaiswal had informed the MCA of his decision to move to Goa, citing personal relocation plans, and had submitted an NOC—giving officials a sudden shock.
Had he continued with his move, Jaiswal would have been eligible to play for Goa, a team that qualified for the knockout stage of the Ranji Trophy. He would have joined the likes of Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, two former Mumbai players who have represented Goa in recent seasons.
Meanwhile, Jaiswal remains in strong form at the international level. The young Indian opener impressed in the first Test against England, scoring a century (101 off 159 balls) in the first innings.
