After a dominant 97-run victory in the first T20I at Nottingham, India Women continued their winning momentum with a 24-run triumph in the second T20I against England Women at Bristol. With this win, India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Amanjot Kaur was the standout performer and was named Player of the Match for her impressive all-round show. First, she struck a crucial unbeaten 63 and stitched a 93-run partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues, helping India recover from early setbacks. Then, with the ball, she claimed the key wicket of England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt to further strengthen India’s grip on the match.

As quoted by ICC after the win, Amanjot credited Jemimah Rodrigues for guiding her during their partnership.

“The credit goes to Jemi (Rodrigues), the way she paced her innings. She told me to stay on the wicket. The wicket was quite damp and slow, compared to the one in Nottingham and we planned to take it deep. We wanted to get going in the 16-18th overs and Richa (Ghosh) finished well too,” Amanjot said.

Reflecting on her own performance, she added: “It is the first of many (50s). I am being called an all-rounder. But I’d still say that I am the purest of the batters and purest of bowlers. My plan (against Brunt) was very simple. I wanted to keep it on the stump and bowl. We knew 170 was a par total on this wicket.”

Amanjot also spoke about the team’s growing confidence and evolving game awareness. “This is a new Indian team, wherever we go, home or away, we are ready to dominate. As games go deep, we need to plan where to hit every bowler while batting. They had specific plans for every batter. T20I is very fast-paced, we don’t get time to plan on ground while the match is on. We are aware of that and we came well prepared,” she concluded.

India Women will now face England in the third T20I on 4 July at The Oval.
