But beyond the numbers, it was his fearless leadership and unwavering belief in young talent that helped shape the modern Indian cricket team. Known for his aggressive captaincy and immense passion for the game, Ganguly continues to be an icon—both on the field and later as the President of the BCCI.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) paid tribute to him with a social media post marking his achievements. The post highlighted his dual contributions as captain and administrator, celebrating his lasting impact on Indian cricket:“424 intl. matches, 18575 intl. runs 38 intl. centuries. The Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL team Ganguly once led, referred to him as the first ‘Knight’ and posted a special tribute: “Born to lead. Built to inspire. Happy Birthday Dada!”

Delhi Capitals, where Ganguly served as Director of Cricket, shared a heartfelt birthday message: “Tiger. Leader. Legend. Happy Birthday, Dada!”

The Indian Super League (ISL) also joined in the celebrations, sharing a photo of Ganguly holding the ISL trophy along with two videos of Robbie Keane and Allan Paulista, as all three share their birthday on the same day: “Sending the warmest wishes to @SGanguly99, #RobbieKeane and #AllanDeSouzaMiranda on their special day!”
