England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has been named in the 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India later this month. The 32-year-old all-rounder, who missed three of the five T20Is due to a groin injury, is expected to regain full fitness in time for the 50-over series.

Maia Bouchier, who was recalled for the T20I series as a replacement for the injured Sciver-Brunt, retains her place in the ODI squad.

“Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is expected to play a full part in the series despite missing the end of the IT20 series with a groin injury,” the ECB said in an official release.

Ecclestone, Filer back for the ODIs

Also returning to the side is left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, who missed the recent series against the West Indies. The experienced bowler has taken 120 wickets in 72 ODIs and is set to strengthen England’s spin attack.

Fast bowler Lauren Filer is another notable inclusion, making her first appearance since the Ashes series.

England will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing T20I series loss to India. Reflecting on the team’s performance, head coach Charlotte Edwards said: “India have really pushed us during the IT20 series. We knew they would, and we’ve learned a lot about the team over the three games.”

She added: “There have been some good moments, but we’re a team in transition. We need to keep working hard to perform more consistently and for longer periods. That’ll be the challenge in the ODI series.”

The ODI series promises to be a closely fought contest as England look to level the ledger after the T20I series defeat.
