Poland’s Iga Swiatek claimed the Wimbledon 2025 women’s singles title in emphatic fashion, defeating America’s Amanda Anisimova in just 57 minutes on Saturday, 12 July. On Centre Court, the eighth seed delivered a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win in the final, showcasing her superiority throughout the one-sided match.

With the victory, Swiatek secured her sixth Grand Slam title, maintaining a perfect 6-0 record in major finals. She is now the second female WTA player behind Venus Williams (7) with the most major titles.

Swiatek became the first woman since 1911—when Dorothea Lambert Chambers beat Dora Boothby—to win a Wimbledon final with a double bagel scoreline. She is also the second player in the Open Era to win a major final without conceding a single game, following Steffi Graf’s 1988 French Open victory over Natasha Zvereva.

Swiatek: “Tennis Keeps Surprising Me”

After the match, Swiatek expressed her disbelief and joy at the result during her on-court interview.

“Being Wimbledon champion sounds amazing and pretty surreal. I’m appreciating every minute. I’m proud of myself because who would have expected that. Tennis keeps surprising me and I keep surprising myself,” she said.

Swiatek noted that the victory felt especially meaningful because it came on grass—historically not her strongest surface.

“The fact it’s on grass, this makes it even more special and more unexpected, so the emotions are bigger. At Roland-Garros, I know I can play well. Here I wasn’t sure and I had to prove that to myself. I’m not going to rank [my Grand Slams],” she added.

Swiatek concluded by saying that the unexpected nature of the win made it even more enjoyable and pressure-free.

“Here and the US Open feel better because no one expected them. It was just good tennis. There wasn’t any baggage on my shoulders,” she said.
