England’s all-time leading run-scorer, Joe Root, has reclaimed the top position in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, overtaking teammate Harry Brook following an impressive performance in the Lord’s Test against India.

Root scored a well-crafted 104 in the first innings, followed by a crucial 40 in the low-scoring second innings, playing a key role in England’s narrow 22-run victory. Brook, meanwhile, has slipped to third in the rankings after scoring just 11 and 23 in the match. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has moved up to second place.

Meanwhile, India captain Shubman Gill, who had been enjoying a dream series prior to Lord’s, has dropped from No. 6 to No. 9. Rishabh Pant, despite scoring 74 in the first innings, has also slipped one place to No. 8.

KL Rahul, who struck a majestic century in the first innings of the match, has climbed five places to reach No. 34 and is followed by teammate Ravindra Jadeja, who registered half-centuries in both innings.

Steve Smith has moved above Yashasvi Jaiswal to claim fourth place, thanks to a crucial 48 in a low-scoring Test against the West Indies. Jaiswal, meanwhile, endured a forgettable outing in both innings at Lord’s.

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah continues to top the bowlers’ rankings after his five-wicket haul at Lord’s. Australia’s Scott Boland has achieved a career-best position, rising six places to reach sixth after his hat-trick against the West Indies.

Jadeja remains at the top in the all-rounder rankings.
