The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named its white-ball squads for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, headlined by the return of star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and the continued omission of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from the T20I format.
Afridi, who was rested for the recent T20I series in Bangladesh, has been recalled for the three-match T20I series in Florida. Fellow pacers Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali also return to the T20I setup. Meanwhile, Babar finds a place only in the ODI squad, which will continue to be led by Rizwan, despite Pakistan’s disappointing outing in the Champions Trophy.
Babar and Rizwan’s T20I exclusion indicates a continued shift in Pakistan’s approach, with the selectors sticking with top-order options like Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, and the experienced Fakhar Zaman.
Hasan Nawaz earns his maiden ODI call-up, while Naseem Shah has been excluded from the T20I squad and Rauf has been left out of the ODIs. T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan remains unavailable as he recovers from shoulder surgery in the UK.
