Australia thrashed West Indies in the 3rd T20I played in St Kitts by six wickets with 23 balls to spare. Tim David was the hero of the match for Australia as he hit the fastest century for the country in T20I cricket.

Chasing the big target, Australia did not have a good start as they lost three wickets within the powerplay. Australia lost Cameron Green at the score of 87, and they were struggling at that point, but from there, David played an absolute gem of a knock, and with Mitchell Owen, he ensured that Australia reached the target without any more loss of wickets.

David demolished the West Indies bowlers. He hit Gudakesh Motie for four consecutive sixes in the 10th over. Roston Chase gave away 23 runs in an over, and 22 of them were scored by David. No bowler got respite from David. He remained unbeaten on 102 off 37 balls with six fours and 11 sixes at a strike rate of 275.68, and was adjudged the Player of the Match.

During the post-match presentation, David shared an interesting insight that he used Andre Russell’s bat to score this blistering ton. Russell took retirement from international cricket in the last game and now with his bat, David came up with the record-breaking ton. “I’ve been carrying that Dre Russ bat around for a year and it felt like it was the best time to use it,” David said.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. West Indies had a terrific start, and the first-wicket partnership between their openers Brandon King and Shai Hope laid a solid foundation to put up a high total. They stitched a partnership of 125 runs from 70 balls. Though the Windies skipper, Hope, continued to play in style from one end, no batter could give him much support.

Hope was the highest scorer of the West Indies innings with an unbeaten 102 from 57 balls that included eight fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 178.95. King scored 62 off 36 balls at a strike rate of 172.22, including three fours and six sixes. West Indies finished with 214/4 in their 20 overs.

With this win, Australia have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series with two more matches to go.
