Back-to-back defeats continue for India Champions in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, as Australia Champions defeated them by four wickets at Leeds. Chasing a massive target of 204, Callum Ferguson delivered an outstanding unbeaten 70-run knock off just 38 balls at a blistering strike rate of 184.21.

The Australian chase got off to a shaky start as they were reduced to 65/4 in just 7.5 overs. However, Daniel Christian and Ferguson resurrected the innings with a crucial 90-run stand off 50 balls for the fifth wicket. Christian was eventually dismissed for 39, but a quickfire 15 off six balls from Ben Cutting and an unbeaten 16 off eight from Rob Quiney helped Australia Champions complete the chase with just one ball to spare. Fittingly, Ferguson sealed the win with a six and was deservedly named Player of the Match for his heroic knock.

Earlier, Australia Champions won the toss and opted to bowl first. India Champions got off to a strong start with openers Robin Uthappa and Shikhar Dhawan adding 57 runs for the first wicket. However, the sixth over brought a double blow as Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu were dismissed in quick succession.

Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh failed to convert their starts, leaving Dhawan searching for support. That came in the form of Yusuf Pathan, who played a blistering counter-attacking knock. His unbeaten 52 off just 23 balls, combined with Dhawan’s composed 91* off 60, helped India Champions post a formidable 203/4. The pair added an unbroken 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Despite the strong total, India Champions couldn’t defend it and now remain winless after three games in the tournament. They will next face England Champions on July 27, again at Leeds.
