Iga Swiatek has opened up about a trait she wishes to adopt from fellow tennis star Carlos Alcaraz, following her return to the court after Wimbledon 2025.

Speaking to TVA Sports, Swiatek admitted with honesty, “I wish I was more like Carlos because I have got to say he is a big inspiration in terms of that.”

She praised Alcaraz’s ability to enjoy his time on the court and reflected on how the pressures of professional tennis can sometimes cloud that mindset.

“He always says that the most important thing for him on a tennis court is to enjoy it and have fun and I sometimes forget about that and sometimes with all the pressure around and things we need to do off the court, you need to remind yourself about this kid that started playing tennis instead of winning for somebody and having this baggage on your shoulders,” she further added.

Swiatek said that Alcaraz’s attitude serves as a reminder for her each time she steps on court.

“For sure, when Carlos shows that and when he speaks about that, it is always a good reminder for me, and I try to do that as well, but without me working on it, I think my mind would automatically go to just working, working, working,” she said.

Swiatek is set to begin her campaign at the ongoing National Bank Open in Toronto, also known as the Canadian Open Tennis tournament, where she will play her first match on 29 July in the Round of 64.

Speaking about the format of such events, Swiatek shared her preference for shorter tournaments. “I think I liked playing these shorter tournaments because physically I was always more efficient, I would say, and I could really last longer.”
