Pakistan Champions thrashed Australia Champions by 10 wickets in the 14th match of the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 at Grace Road. Chasing just 75 runs, Pakistan made light work of the target, reaching it in just 7.5 overs with openers Sharjeel Khan and Sohaib Maqsood remaining unbeaten.

But what truly stole the headlines was a bizarre and painful over from Australia’s John Hastings.

11 Wides, 1 No-Ball, 5 Legal Deliveries – A Nightmare Over

Pakistan were cruising at 55/0 after seven overs when John Hastings came on to bowl the eighth over. What followed was pure chaos.

He started with five wides in a row, completely failing to control his line. After that, he bowled two legal deliveries, giving fans a brief sense of hope. But the over soon spiralled again—Hastings overstepped for a no-ball, followed by another wide, then a dot ball, and finally, five more wides.

By the end of the over, Pakistan had completed the chase in just 7.5 overs. Hastings bowled 17 deliveries in total, of which only five were legal. He conceded 20 runs in that over alone, capping off one of the most forgettable overs in the tournament.

Sharjeel scored an unbeaten 32 off 23 balls, while Maqsood contributed 28* off 26 as Pakistan extended their unbeaten run in WCL 2025—four wins and one no-result in five games.

Earlier in the day, Australia were bowled out for just 74 runs in 11.5 overs. Ben Dunk top-scored with 26 runs, but it was Saeed Ajmal who dismantled the Aussie batting order with a sensational spell—6 wickets for just 16 runs.

Despite the heavy loss, Australia had already secured a place in the semi-finals. They will now face South Africa in the second semi-final on 31 July in Birmingham. Pakistan, meanwhile, are set to meet arch-rivals India Champions in the first semi-final on the same day.
