Cricket Australia chief executive Todd Greenberg believes that the way the ongoing Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy is being contested between India and England will greatly help in selling tickets for the upcoming Ashes Test series.

“It’s great cricket to watch leading into them coming here on this Ashes trip. It will sell more tickets for us. We like to think that’s talkability,” he said.

The Ashes 2025 will begin in November, and Greenberg is hoping that the footfall will surpass the 837,879 recorded during the 2024–2025 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

“It’s great, isn’t it? It’s great cricket (India vs England series for Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy) to watch as a fan,” Greenberg told Sydney Morning Herald.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy ranks as the most attended Test series in Australia apart from the Ashes. The all-time record remains 946,750, set during the 1936–37 Ashes, when the great Sir Donald Bradman was in his prime.

“Everyone will have their opinion when our English friends arrive I’m sure, and we’re looking forward to that very much. I love the way they’re playing their cricket and I can’t wait to see them test themselves on our shores,” he added.

Greenberg revealed that Ashes pre-sales have already reached double the figure of the Border-Gavaskar series.

“It’s great cricket to watch leading into them coming here on this Ashes trip. It will sell more tickets for us. We like to think that’s talkability,” he said.

Five Ashes tests are scheduled to take place in Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
