Ishan Kishan will lead the East Zone side in the Duleep Trophy, which features prominent names such as Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep, and Abhimanyu Easwaran.
The Duleep Trophy begins on 28 August in Bengaluru and will be played in the traditional zonal format this year. Shami was last seen in competitive action during the IPL, where he had a disappointing season for Sunrisers Hyderabad, claiming just six wickets from nine innings at an economy rate of 11.23. He last played for India in the Champions Trophy earlier this year. Additionally, he has been named in Bengal’s probable list for the upcoming Ranji Trophy.
Easwaran, who did not get a single opportunity in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, will serve as the team’s vice-captain.
Akash Deep, who took a 10-wicket haul in India’s emphatic victory at Edgbaston, will play a key role in a pace attack that also includes Shami, Mukesh Kumar, and Suraj Jaiswal. Riyan Parag has also been included in the squad, while Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra is another notable addition.
Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made headlines during IPL 2025, has been named in the standby list.
