Team India registered a memorable win on the final day of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at The Oval, defeating England by six runs, courtesy of a terrific bowling display by the Player of the Match, Mohammed Siraj.
After the win, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh took a dig at former England captain Michael Vaughan by reminding him of his prediction that England would win the series 3-1. He also urged Vaughan to focus more on his own team.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan said that Vaughan and many others got their predictions wrong, and India’s victory highlighted the current level of Indian cricket at The Oval.
“I feel there is a big win hidden for India here. Yes, the scoreline shows 2-2. Michael Vaughan and many others predicted that it would be 3-1 or 3-0. I would tell them to look towards their side a bit and where England cricket stands. Our warriors have shown the level of Indian cricket,” Harbhajan said.
He also praised the young Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, for the way they performed not only at The Oval but throughout the entire series.
“Unbelievable Test match and the way India have played the series, they deserve praise. When the team went to England, many people said it was young and there were no seniors. But see how the young team created history,” he added.
India now have two home Test series lined up for the remainder of the year. They will host the West Indies for a two-match series in October, followed by a two-Test series against South Africa in November.
