
Priyansh Arya roared back to form with a stunning century against East Delhi Riders on Friday, 8 August. Opening the innings for Outer Delhi Warriors, the left-handed batter smashed 111 from just 56 deliveries, striking seven boundaries and launching nine massive sixes at a strike rate of 198.21. In doing so, he became the first cricketer in DPL history to register more than one century.
Arya had endured a poor start to this DPL season, scoring just 26, 16, and 8 in his first three outings. However, against East Delhi Riders, Arya and Karan Garg stitched together a 92-run partnership from 46 balls, providing the Outer Delhi Warriors’ innings with much-needed solidity and a strong platform to post a big total.
After Karan’s dismissal, Arya continued his fine form, sharing two crucial partnerships — 30 runs with Mohit Panwar and 38 with Keshav Dabas. He was eventually dismissed in the 18th over with the score at 198. However, he was unable to take his team over the line, as East Delhi Riders won the match by five wickets with four balls to spare.
Arya had a fantastic 2024 DPL season, amassing 608 runs in 10 innings at an average of 67.56 and a strike rate close to 200. His brilliant performance caught the attention of the Punjab Kings, who secured his services at the auction for ₹3.8 crore. He lit up the IPL, scoring 475 runs from 17 matches at an average of 27.94 and a strike rate of 179.25, including one century and two fifties.
