The Indian women’s team have begun their preparations for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, spending 10 days at the BCCI Centre of Excellence working towards the global event. The camp’s objective was to enhance physical conditioning, refine techniques, and get the squad match-ready.

Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, said it would be “special” to play the World Cup in front of a home crowd and that the team would give its all to win the trophy.

“Playing in front of a home crowd is always special, and hopefully this time we’ll give 100 per cent and finally break the barrier that all Indian fans have been waiting for. World Cups are special, and I always want to do something special for my country,” Harmanpreet said at the 50-day countdown launch of the ICC Women’s World Cup.

After a successful tour of England, where India won the ODI series 2–1, the team will now set their sights on cricket’s biggest ODI tournament. As hosts of the World Cup, India are certainly among the favourites to lift the trophy. Next month, Australia will tour India for a three-match ODI series, which will be India’s final assignment before the mega event.

Before the World Cup, India will play two warm-up matches — against England on 25 September and against New Zealand on 27 September. The ICC has set 30 August as the deadline for all teams to submit their squads.
