
Dewald Brevis once again showed his class in the third T20I against Australia on South Africa’s tour of Australia, played in Cairns. In this deciding match of the series, Brevis scored a quickfire 53 off 26 balls. His innings, which included one four and six sixes, gave South Africa’s innings a major boost as they reached 172/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
This knock came after his brilliant performance in the second T20I at Darwin, where Brevis scored an unbeaten 125 off just 56 balls. He struck 12 fours and 8 sixes to power South Africa to 218/7. His innings helped South Africa win the match by 53 runs, and he was named Player of the Match.
Brevis’ series began with a failure in the first T20I, where he managed only 2 runs from 6 balls. However, he bounced back in style with a century and a fifty in the following two matches. Across the three games, Brevis scored a total of 180 runs, making him one of South Africa’s standout performers in the series.
In the final match at Cairns, Rassie van der Dussen added 38 runs, while Tristan Stubbs scored 25 and Lhuan-dre Pretorius contributed 24. For Australia, Nathan Ellis was the leading wicket-taker with three scalps.
The series currently stands level at 1-1 after Australia won the opening game and South Africa took the second.
