All-rounder Bas de Leede and Roelof van der Merwe were among the notable absentees from the Netherlands’ 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, announced by the Netherlands Cricket Board on Wednesday, 20 August.

De Leede was unavailable for selection due to injury. Other injured players who were also unavailable for selection include Michael Levitt, Vivian Kingma, and Zach Lion-Cachet.

Senior players such as Roelof van der Merwe and Logan van Beek were unavailable for selection for undisclosed reasons. A total of six players were unavailable, which has led to several recalls.

Veteran opener Vikramjit Singh, left-arm pacer Fred Klaassen, and left-arm spinner Tim Pringle return to the T20I set-up.
Leg-spinner Shariz Ahmad and left-arm seamer Ben Fletcher are also back in the squad. Notably, none of these players were part of the T20 World Cup Qualifier-winning squad.

The Scott Edwards-led Netherlands is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on 27 August and will travel to Sylhet on the same day. The visiting Dutch side will begin training from 28 August.

The three T20Is are scheduled to be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on 30 August, 1 September, and 3 September, respectively. This series is important for the Dutch as part of their preparations for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be played in the subcontinental conditions of India and Sri Lanka.
