Sri Lanka has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga will be a major miss from the side. The ace spinner sustained a leg injury in the recently concluded ODI series against Bangladesh, which Sri Lanka won 2-1.
Charith Asalanka has been named the captain of the squad.
Hasaranga was the leading wicket-taker in the Bangladesh series with nine wickets. The injury had previously ruled him out of the T20Is against Bangladesh and now leads to his elimination from the Zimbabwe tour.
Right-hand batter Nuwanidu Fernando will make his return to the ODI squad after a year. In five ODI matches so far, the opening batter has scored 75 runs at the strike rate of 71.42.
