The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released a revised schedule for the ICC Women’s World Cup, which is set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, on Friday. In a major change, the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai has officially replaced Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as one of the five venues for the global event.

As per the revised schedule, the DY Patil Stadium will host three league matches, Semi-final 2, and potentially the final on 2 November. India will play against New Zealand and Bangladesh on 23 and 26 October respectively.

Among the other changes, Guwahati will now host the tournament opener between India and Sri Lanka. The match between England and South Africa, earlier scheduled to be played in Bengaluru, will also take place in Guwahati.

Back in June, the ICC included Bengaluru among the five venues when it revealed the tournament schedule. However, following the stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s victory parade, the Chinnaswamy Stadium was deemed unfit to host matches. As a result, Navi Mumbai has replaced Bengaluru.

“Navi Mumbai has emerged as a genuine home for women’s cricket in recent years,” said ICC Chairman Jay Shah in an official release. “The support it has received during international fixtures and the Women’s Premier League has been remarkable, creating an atmosphere that elevates the players and inspires fans. I am certain that the same energy will define the big matches of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup as it returns to India after 12 years,” he said.

“We stand at a pivotal moment in the journey of the women’s game. This World Cup has the potential to be remembered as one of those defining milestones that shaped the sport’s future, not only in India but across the cricketing world. While unforeseen circumstances required us to adjust the schedule and replace a venue, we are pleased to now have a line-up of five world-class venues that will showcase the very best of the women’s game. The stage is set, and I am confident this tournament will capture imaginations and inspire a new generation of fans,” he concluded.
