The BCCI has announced the India squad for the Asia Cup. Rinku Singh is among the notable inclusions in the batting line-up.Rinku opened up in an exclusive conversation with RevSportz, where he credited senior batter and captain Suryakumar Yadav for playing a major role in his development.
“Bhau (brother) has supported me a lot,”Rinku said, reflecting on Surya’s constant encouragement on and off the field. “He (Surya) speaks to all the players, which provides a lot of confidence, and it’s the same for myself.”
Rinku said that like head coach Gautam Gambhir, the captain lets the players be themselves. “Just like GG sir, Surya is also like a guiding figure behind us all, who always gives the liberty to play freely.”
He explained how closely Surya understandshis game. “I have played all my cricket under Surya and he knows well about my role, capability and where I fit in the team.”
Though he didn’t have a great IPL 2025, as he scored 206 runs in 11 innings at the strike rate of 153.75, the selectors showed faith in him. Rinku made an unbeaten 108 in the Uttar Pradesh Premier League on August 22. The Asia Cup starts on September 9. India will play their first match on September 10 against United Arab Emirates.
