It is not one or the other. It is one with the other. FSDL and AIFF are working on a possible long-term solution for Indian football with an aim to also start the delayed season of the ISL as soon as possible. While the solution hasn’t been ironed out as yet, the intent is there and things are expected to be firmed up over the next two days.
Sources in the know confirm to Revsportz, “Nothing has moved since yesterday but today and tomorrow are key days in working things out. Multiple stakeholders and key institutions need to be consulted and AFC too will be spoken to. The intent is there and both sides are working to a meaningful solution.”
Referring to news floating that FSDL has agreed to stage this year’s ISL and will plan the future MRA with the newly elected AIFF office bearers post the completion of the election process, the source confirmed that it is untrue and nothing of the sort has been tabled in yesterday’s deliberations.
“What will be presented before the Supreme Court is a long-term solution which will help Indian football in the long run. That’s precisely why things are not being rushed. At the same time, the solution will very much keep in mind the urgent need to start the season as soon as possible. These are complex discussions and there should be a viable solution soon”, said the source.
On involving the clubs, the source was clear. “As I said to you all the key stakeholders will be spoken to and even bodies like the AFC will be consulted. The idea is to resolve the impasse once and for all. The meeting was good and things will be carried forward today and tomorrow before presenting things before the Supreme Court on 28 August.”
From the look of it, there could be light at the end of the tunnel.
