Essentially known for his wicketkeeping skills, Dhruv Jurel was not included in India’s Asia Cup squad. He has been named as a reserve player. The player recently expressed his gratitude for Gautam Gambhir, India’s head coach, for his support and the motivation he gained as part of the team.

Jurel played a crucial role as India’s wicketkeeper-batter in the final match of the Test series in England at The Oval as a replacement for the injured Rishabh Pant. He held three catches and made 19 and 34 with the bat.

Speaking on YouTube show Breaking Sports with host Vivek Sethia, Jurel praised Gambhir’s personality as a coach. He also mentioned the kind of energy he brought to the team that made everyone perform at his best.

“If you are around him, you always feel motivated. You feel pumped up. The kind of energy and aura he has, like I said, when he comes into the huddle and speaks, everyone gets pumped up. It feels really good. He makes you feel like, ‘We are going in, we are the best, and we are the ones who will win’. That’s the kind of feeling he gives,” he said.

In addition to that, he is grateful for the support he received from Gambhir. “He always comes to me and says, ‘You can talk to me anytime, you can call me anytime, and I will always back you. Just keep your head down and work hard. I will always stand behind you.’ That feels really good. You feel confident when the coach of the Indian team talks to you like that.”
