Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have announced a fresh financial aid for the families of the 11 people who lost their lives in the stampeded outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the IPL 2025 victory celebrations. The franchise confirmed that they will provide Rs 25 lakh each to the families as part of their new initiative, RCB Cares.

The tragedy that took place on June 4, when fans had gathered in number outside the stadium during the victory celebrations parade. RCB had won their first-ever IPL title under Rajat Patidar, after defeating Punjab Kings in the final. Unfortunately, a stampede broke out during the celebrations, killing 11 people and injuring over 50 others. Initially, RCB had announced Rs 10 lakh compensation for the families, which had garnered major criticism on social media

In their official statement, issued freshly on August 30, RCB said:

“Our hearts broke on June 4, 2025. We lost eleven members of the RCB family. They were part of us. Part of what makes our city, our community and  our team unique. Their absence will echo in the memories of each one of us.

No amount of support can ever fill the space they’ve left behind. But as a first step, and with the deepest respect, RCB has extended ₹25 lakh each to their families. Not just as financial aid, but as a promise of compassion, unity, and ongoing care.

This is also the beginning of RCB CARES: a long-term commitment for meaningful action that begins by honouring their memory. Every step forward will reflect what the fans feel, expect, and deserve. More details on RCB CARES soon…”

The Karnataka government blamed RCB for rushing the celebrations, not providing adequate security and questioned the stadium’s crowd control. Meanwhile, ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 games have been shifted from Bengaluru, and the future of IPL matches are uncertain at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
