N Srinivasan and his daughter Rupa Gurunath will join the board of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), the company that runs the Chennai Super Kings team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The CSKCL board has already cleared their names, and the decision will be confirmed at the Annual General Meeting on the September 27. This will be the first time 80-year-old Srinivasan will be the part of board of directors for the CSKCL board. He will serve as chairman, while his daughter Rupa Gurunath will take on the role of the full-time director.

Srinivasan has mostly stayed away from active roles in recent years, making only a few public appearances. On the other hand his daughter has been handling family’s business interests.

Apart from them, the board also includes Kasi Viswanathan as the managing director and CEO, along with former BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel, R Srinivasan, Rakesh Singh, PL Subramanian, V Manickam and E Jayashree.

“See, it’s a great boon for CSK. He’s been the best administrator for us and I’m very happy that he’s come back into CSK,” Viswanathan told to PTI. “He’ll be in an advisory role only because he doesn’t travel much, but we’ll be in contact with him.”

This decision came after a tough season for CSK in the IPL 2025. The team finished last on the points table for the first time in the history of the tournament after winning just four of their 14 matches. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who started as captain but got injured after five games, was replaced by MS Dhoni as stand-in captain in the middle of the last season.
