The women’s doubles duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly have quickly garnered fans attention after a phenomenal year that saw them climb to a careerbest World No. 9 ranking. But the rise wasn’t easy. Throughout the year, the duo werestruggling on and off with injuries.

A source has revealed that Gayatri has been dealing with an injury. She is currently three weeks into rehab and is expected to have another three weeks in recovery, if not a little more.

Sources have also revealed that she is being treated by Dinshaw Pardiwala, the same doctor who helped cricketer Rishabh Pant make his way back to the field after thenear-fatal car accident that forced him out of action for 15 months.

As things stand, Gayatri’s doubles partner, Treesa, will play a few mixed doubles games to stay in rhythm and get some game time under her belt so the duo can quickly make a comeback. Sources say that Treesa refused to play in the women’s doubles category with anyone but Gayatri, and is set on waiting for her partner to return to thecourt.

Earlier in the year, in May, the duo had returned from another injury layoff after Treesa injured her shoulder and Gayatri had back issues. They had to pull out of the Sudirman cup owing to their injuries but made a comeback at the Thailand Open in May 2025, where they were knocked out in the Round of 16. Preceding that, the two had performed well in the All England tournament and had their eyes set on a breakthrough season when injuries set them back.

They also participated in Singapore Open where they exited the tournament in the Round of 16, followed by Indonesia Open in June where they were again defeated in the Round of 16. They then participated in the Macau Open in July-August where they faced a firstround exit.

Fans will be eagerly awaiting the duo’s return. Fondly known as Tre-Ga, they showcased immense potential last season and will be determined to climb back to their career-high World No. 9 ranking, and beyond. After an inconsistent year, the pair have slipped to No. 12 in the rankings.
