India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav lauded his teammates for their energy and determination during the side’s first training session, leading up to the Asia Cup.

The Men in Blue held their training session in Dubai, at the ICC Academy, on Friday. Under floodlights, the Indian players toiled hard during a full-fledged, high-intensity session as they prepared for the continental tournament.

“To have such a brilliant bunch around, with unbelievable skill sets, I always have a smile on my face when I see those boys on the ground,” Suryakumar said in a video posted by the BCCI on ‘X’. “Because the way they put their bodies on the line – that’s what I want from them. And they just enjoy themselves out there.”

Suryakumar’s deputy, Shubman Gill, shared a similar viewpoint to that of his captain.

“Very excited, obviously. I think it’s a great group. And the way we’ve been playing in T20s is nothing short of entertaining and terrific cricket. So, I’m very excited to join the group,” he said.

India will have a few more days of training before they face the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on September 10, in their first match of the tournament. They will then take on arch-rivals Pakistan, on September 14, followed by a clash with Oman on September 19.
