India all-rounder Washington Sundar has signed a short-term deal with Hampshire for the final two rounds of the County Championship as the club made an official announcement on Thursday.
Sundar already has the experience of playing in the County Championship and One Day Cup. In 2022, he was a part of Lancashire where he made a brilliant debut, taking a fifer.
Sundar has played 40 First Class matches, scoring 1885 runs at an average of 34.27, including three hundreds and 10 fifties. He has also taken 91 wickets including four fifers
In international cricket, Sundar made his debut at a young age of 18. He has represented India in 13 Test matches, scoring 752 runs at an average of 44.23 and taking 32 wickets. In 23 ODIs, the all-rounder has scored 329 runs and taken 24 wickets. In T20Is, he has played 54 matches, scoring 193 runs and taking 48 wickets.
Hampshire are scheduled to take on Somerset from September 15 followed by defending champions Surrey from September 24.
The 25-year-old all-rounder was in fantastic form in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England. He scored 284 runs in four matches, including a hundred in the fourth Test, helping India save the match. He also took seven wickets in the series.
