Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris insisted that the team’s approach will not change, as it has delivered the desired results over the past few months. His remarks came in the aftermath of Pakistan’s thumping win over Oman in their first match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Prior to the tournament, head coach Mike Hesson underscored the importance of strike rate in the T20 format. In their clash against Oman, the Men in Green posted a modest total of 160, with Mohammad Haris anchoring the innings with a 43-ball 66. After the match, captain Salman Ali Agha admitted that there is still room for improvement in the batting department. However, Haris maintains that the team’s recent performances have been more than satisfactory.

“Look, this team has already proved itself,” said Haris at the post-match press conference. “We went to Dhaka and put up 180. No other team has managed 180 in Mirpur, if you check. We scored 180 in the West Indies as well, and 200 in Sharjah. Pakistan’s team hadn’t scored 200 in the UAE before, but we did it there too.”

Pakistan’s new approach has been shaped by the input and guidance of both the head coach and the captain.

“So the team’s approach will remain the same – it’s how we’ve been playing. That’s both the suggestion and the direction coming from the coach and the captain,” Haris added.

After cruising past Oman, Pakistan will take on India next on 14 September at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
